“I’m lovin it.” “Live mas.” “Finger-lickin’ good.” “Have it your way.” Everyone hears these slogans. They are catchy, after all. They entice a person and persuade them to go to a fast-food restaurant. McDonalds, Taco Bell, KFC, and Burger King are just a few of the wealthy food chains constantly taunting you with commercials. These days, no one really thinks about what they are eating. I mean, it tastes good, right? Who cares what it’s made of.
Unfortunately, too many individuals think this way. In 2015, the obesity rate is constantly rising. Childhood obesity is at an all-time high as junk food becomes more and more accessible and cheap.
Of all the commercials you see on TV, something that you aren’t informed about is how truly unhealthy this country has become. If I told you that 200 people in the U.S. die every single day due to obesity related diseases and body failures, would you believe me? Okay, now add about 600 to that number. Yeah, while anorexia is also a major issue in today’s society, taking the lives of 200 people every day, obesity claims lives of roughly 800 people every single day. Cancer. Diabetes. Strokes, heart attacks. Cardiovascular disease. The list goes on. No one talks about these things. If we don’t talk about it, it doesn’t exist, right?
America has honestly turned a blind eye to health. It needs to be awakened.
